Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship

As a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced tradespeople to develop skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems. Your responsibilities will include: - Assisting in the assembly, installation, and alignment of mechanical components such as pumps, compressors, valves, and piping systems. - Performing routine maintenance and inspections on industrial gas and gear equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. - Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs or replacements as directed. - Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions. - Using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks accurately. - Adhering to strict safety protocols and workplace health and safety standards. - Maintaining a clean and organized work area and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored. - Collaborating with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently. - Participating in on-the-job training and off-site learning to progress through apprenticeship stages. - Documenting work completed and reporting any issues or discrepancies to senior staff. This role is based at BOC Gas and Gear in Wetherill Park and involves working with a variety of mechanical systems in a heavy industrial environment. You will gain hands-on experience in the gases and engineering sector, contributing to the supply of critical equipment for healthcare and industry.

To be considered for this apprenticeship, you should meet the following qualifications and requirements: - Currently in the 2nd or 3rd year of a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship, or willing to commence a new apprenticeship. - A genuine interest in mechanical systems and hands-on work. - Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. - Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a team environment. - Basic understanding of mechanical principles and tools. - Good communication skills and a willingness to learn. - Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work in an industrial setting. - A commitment to completing the apprenticeship program and obtaining relevant trade qualifications. - Previous experience in a similar role or industry is advantageous but not essential.
