BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEERS, DESIGNERS & MODELLERS - NATIONWIDE

As a Building Services Engineer, Designer, or Modeller, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a range of building projects. Your primary duties will include: Design and Development: Create detailed designs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, fire protection, and hydraulics. Utilize industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM to produce accurate models and drawings. Technical Analysis: Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system simulations to ensure designs meet performance, sustainability, and regulatory standards. Conduct feasibility studies and optimize system efficiency. Project Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate building services seamlessly into overall project designs. Participate in design reviews and coordinate with contractors during construction phases. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Prepare documentation for approvals and certifications. Quality Assurance: Review and verify designs for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications. Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning. Client Interaction: Liaise with clients to understand project requirements, present design proposals, and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Mentorship and Leadership (for senior roles): Guide junior engineers and modellers, review their work, and contribute to team development. Lead design initiatives and manage project timelines. Sustainability Focus: Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design principles, such as green building certifications (e.g., Green Star, NABERS), to minimize environmental impact. These responsibilities apply across intermediate, associate, and lead levels, with increasing complexity and leadership expectations at higher tiers.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience: - **Education**: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or building services engineering (or a related field). - **Experience**: Minimum of 3 years of experience in building services engineering for intermediate roles; 5-8 years for associate roles; and 8+ years for lead roles, with proven project management and team leadership experience. - **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and relevant simulation tools (e.g., IES, HAP, Dialux). Strong understanding of MEP systems, HVAC design, and electrical engineering principles. - **Knowledge**: In-depth knowledge of Australian building codes, standards (e.g., NCC, AS/NZS), and sustainability practices. Familiarity with Green Star or NABERS is advantageous. - **Soft Skills**: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. - **Certifications**: Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is desirable. Relevant professional memberships (e.g., Engineers Australia) are a plus. - **Other**: Valid Australian work rights and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
