Transport - QLD State Manager- Brisbane

As the QLD State Manager for Transport & Logistics, you will lead the Queensland operation with full authority to drive performance, safety, and growth. Your primary responsibilities include: Operational Leadership: Oversee daily transport and logistics operations across Queensland, ensuring efficient freight movement, fleet management, and warehouse coordination. You will manage route planning, load optimization, and delivery schedules to meet customer service levels and cost targets. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the state business plan aligned with national objectives. Identify opportunities for market expansion, service diversification, and operational improvements. You will analyze performance data to drive continuous improvement in productivity, utilization, and profitability. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team including depot managers, supervisors, drivers, and administrative staff. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance. You will conduct regular performance reviews, training needs assessments, and succession planning. Safety & Compliance: Champion a zero-harm safety culture. Ensure all operations comply with NHVR regulations, fatigue management, load restraint, and chain of responsibility requirements. You will lead incident investigations, safety audits, and implement corrective actions. Customer & Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. You will manage contract negotiations, service level agreements, and resolve escalated customer issues. Represent the company in industry forums and local business networks. Financial Management: Own the state P&L, including revenue growth, cost control, and margin improvement. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and monthly reports. You will drive cost efficiencies in fuel, maintenance, labor, and subcontractor spend. Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance and utilization of fleet vehicles, trailers, and equipment. Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and asset lifecycle planning. Change Management: Lead organizational change initiatives to improve processes, technology adoption, and operational agility. You will communicate effectively to gain buy-in and minimize disruption.

To succeed in this role, you must have: - **Experience**: Minimum 8-10 years in transport and logistics management, with at least 3-5 years in a state or regional leadership role. Proven track record in managing multi-site operations, fleet, and P&L. - **Industry Knowledge**: Deep understanding of Australian transport regulations, including NHVR, fatigue management, chain of responsibility, and dangerous goods handling. Experience in linehaul, metro, and regional freight operations. - **Leadership Skills**: Strong people management skills with ability to inspire and develop teams. Experience in managing industrial relations, enterprise agreements, and union engagement. - **Commercial Acumen**: Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, cost reduction, and margin improvement. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. - **Education**: Tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain, business management, or equivalent experience. - **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS), fleet management software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of WMS and ERP systems is advantageous. - **Personal Attributes**: Results-oriented, resilient, and adaptable. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel across Queensland as required. - **Licenses**: Valid Australian driver's license. Forklift license and dangerous goods license are desirable.
