Intern - Should Cost Analyst Intern

As a Should Cost Analyst Intern, you will support the cost engineering team in analyzing product costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction. Your responsibilities include: - Conducting should-cost analysis for mechanical and electronic components using industry-standard methodologies. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams including supply chain, engineering, and finance to gather data and validate cost assumptions. - Developing and maintaining cost models to estimate manufacturing costs based on materials, labor, overhead, and tooling. - Assisting in benchmarking supplier quotes against should-cost estimates to ensure competitive pricing. - Participating in design-to-cost initiatives by providing cost insights during product development phases. - Preparing reports and presentations to communicate cost analysis findings and recommendations to stakeholders. - Supporting continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing cost structures and enhancing value engineering. - Performing market research on raw material prices, labor rates, and manufacturing trends to update cost databases. - Contributing to the development of cost reduction roadmaps and tracking progress against targets. - Ensuring data accuracy and integrity in cost models and analysis tools.

To be successful in this role, you should have: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with cost modeling or data analysis tools is a plus. - Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, electronics assembly). - Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. - Prior internship or project experience in cost analysis, supply chain, or engineering is preferred but not required.
