Configuration and Data Management Specialist

The Configuration and Data Management Specialist serves in a developmental position within the Logistics Career Field. The primary purpose is to perform assignments designed to further develop analytical and evaluative skills and techniques related to configuration and data management. Responsibilities include supporting the lifecycle management of systems and equipment by ensuring accurate configuration identification, control, and status accounting. The specialist will assist in maintaining data integrity across logistics databases, tracking changes to system configurations, and coordinating with engineering, logistics, and program management teams to ensure compliance with configuration management standards. Duties also involve analyzing data to identify discrepancies, preparing reports on configuration status, and contributing to process improvements. The role requires learning and applying principles of logistics management, data analysis, and configuration control to support mission objectives.

To qualify for GS-9, you must meet one of the following: 1) Completed 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, with class standing in the upper third of the graduating class, a GPA of 2.95 or higher (or 3.45 in major field courses), or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (freshman honor society excluded). 2) One full year (18 semester hours) of graduate-level study or a master's or higher degree in fields such as business administration, industrial management, industrial engineering, industrial psychology, public administration, political science, or government. 3) At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level, demonstrating knowledge to perform the duties of the position. 4) A combination of graduate education and specialized experience equating to 100%.
