Manufacturing Design Engineer

As a Manufacturing Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing manufacturing processes for semiconductor equipment and systems. Your primary duties include: Process Design and Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for complex electronic and mechanical assemblies. This includes creating detailed work instructions, defining process parameters, and implementing process controls to ensure high yield and quality. Product Design for Manufacturability: Collaborate with product design teams to ensure new product designs are manufacturable. Provide input on design changes to improve assembly efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance reliability. Tooling and Fixture Design: Design and specify tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for manufacturing operations. Work with suppliers and internal teams to procure and validate these tools. Process Validation and Troubleshooting: Lead process validation activities including first article inspections, process capability studies, and root cause analysis for manufacturing issues. Implement corrective actions to resolve defects and improve throughput. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to reduce waste, improve cycle time, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain manufacturing documentation such as process flow diagrams, control plans, and standard operating procedures. Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with quality, supply chain, and production teams to resolve issues and implement process changes. Support new product introductions (NPI) from prototype through ramp-up. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, predict failures, and recommend process improvements. Prepare reports and presentations for management review.

To be successful in this role, you should have: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. - 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in semiconductor equipment, electronics, or precision mechanical assembly. - Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly, and testing. - Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling and fixture design. - Experience with process validation methodologies (e.g., PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC). - Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles; Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus. - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis. - Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. - Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is desirable.
