The Work/Life Consultant provides counseling and support on work/life issues, including family separation, financial management, and emergency assistance, by interviewing clients, assessing needs, and developing goals and referral plans.

岗位职责

The Work/Life Consultant develops broad gauge individuals who can deal effectively with change and complexity within the Air Force environment as it relates to their career field. Key responsibilities include interviewing clients to assess their needs and concerns, such as family separation, parenting, child care, and elder care, and evaluating and interpreting data received from these interviews. The consultant provides counseling on work/life issues and interest areas including personal financial management, employment, community life, transition, relocation, emergency/crisis assistance, personal and family readiness, and other work/life issues. This role involves establishing the nature and extent of concerns or issues, assisting clients in developing goals and plans, and determining appropriate referral services or options, often when there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. The consultant also establishes and maintains effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with individuals, families, and leadership of organizations.

Basic Requirement: A degree in behavioral or social science, or a related discipline appropriate to the position. OR A combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience demonstrating knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition, to qualify for a GS-07: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education, or a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement, or 5 academic years of pre-professional study, or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-5. Specialized experience includes interviewing, assessing clients' needs and concerns (e.g., family separation, parenting, child care, elder care), evaluating and interpreting data from interviews, and providing counseling on work/life issues such as personal financial management, employment, community life, transition, relocation, emergency/crisis assistance, and personal and family readiness. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of social services delivery systems and a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more social or behavioral science fields. 2. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services/options. 3. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy.
