Civil Engineer / Mechancial Engineer / Electrical Engineer

As a Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineer in this formal Air Force intern position, you will participate in a structured development program designed to provide broad exposure to engineering practices within the organization. Your responsibilities will include: - Applying engineering principles to plan, design, and oversee construction or maintenance projects related to civil, mechanical, or electrical systems. - Conducting technical analyses, calculations, and simulations to ensure project compliance with standards and specifications. - Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions across infrastructure, utilities, and facilities. - Reviewing project plans, blueprints, and technical documents to identify potential issues and recommend improvements. - Performing site inspections and assessments to monitor progress, quality, and safety. - Preparing reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations. - Supporting project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. - Staying current with industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure best practices are applied. - Participating in training and mentorship activities to develop professional competencies and leadership skills.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic education requirements for Professional Engineering (0800 series) as defined by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). This includes: - A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a combination of education and experience that includes differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in at least five of the following areas: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, electrical fields and circuits, nature and properties of materials, or other comparable engineering science or physics topics. Additionally, to qualify at the GS-07 level, you must have: - Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution AND demonstrated Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) as defined by one of the following: A) Class standing in the upper third of your graduating class. B) A grade point average (GPA) of 2.95 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) overall, or 3.45 or higher in your major field or required courses completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. C) OR one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-05 level.

The Air Force Personnel Center manages civilian training programs, including the PALACE Acquire program, for the U.S. Air Force. It is responsible for force renewal and development, and international affairs administration.
