岗位职责
As a Student Volunteer in the General Legal division, you will support the legal team by performing a variety of tasks that contribute to the agency's mission. Your responsibilities will include conducting legal research on issues related to commodities, futures, and derivatives markets, as well as drafting memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents. You will assist in reviewing and analyzing regulatory filings, enforcement actions, and litigation matters. Additionally, you may participate in meetings and discussions with attorneys and other staff, providing insights and support on ongoing cases and projects. You will help prepare materials for hearings, trials, or other legal proceedings, and may be asked to summarize legal developments or court decisions. The role also involves organizing and maintaining legal files, ensuring accurate documentation, and performing administrative tasks as needed to facilitate the work of the legal department. Your duties will vary based on the specific department or office where you are placed, offering exposure to different areas of legal practice within the agency. This internship provides valuable experience that contributes to your educational and professional growth, and the skills you develop can be applied in future employment in federal, state, or local governments, or the private sector.

To be eligible for this position, you must be a student accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and in good standing as a J.D. or LL.M candidate in an ABA accredited law school on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled). You must have completed at least one year of law school by the requested start date. The internship is unpaid and requires a commitment of 12 weeks to 12 months, with schedules available on a multiple schedule basis. Internships may begin as early as January 2026.
