Seasonal Student Trainee (Laborer)

This seasonal student trainee position in the Laborer occupation provides meaningful work experience through hands-on assignments. You will perform moderately heavy physical labor using common hand tools and power equipment. Responsibilities include loading and unloading supplies; digging ditches; moving and arranging furniture; sweeping and mopping floors; stripping floor wax and using floor polishers; emptying garbage cans; cleaning restrooms; ensuring needed materials and tools are available and in good working order; and lifting and moving heavy loads over 50 pounds. You will work under intermediate and journeyman level staff, receiving guidance while developing practical skills. The role requires a good work ethic, dexterity, and the ability to perform strenuous work as required.

To be eligible for this Pathways position, you must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited education institution on at least a half-time basis, with a minimum 2.0 grade average. You must provide transcripts showing your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. You must also be enrolled for the next semester or quarter following the period of this vacancy and provide supporting documentation. To qualify, you must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: ability to do the work without more than normal supervision; work practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order); ability to interpret instructions and specifications (other than blueprints); ability to use and maintain tools and equipment; and dexterity and safety. Minimum qualifications include performing general laborer duties without more than normal supervision, such as loading/unloading supplies, digging ditches, moving furniture, cleaning, and lifting heavy loads over 50 pounds.
