Mechanical Engineer responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing mechanical systems using engineering principles, with a focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
To qualify, you must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
1. Degree: Engineering from an accredited program that includes differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in at least five of the following areas: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, electrical fields and circuits, nature and properties of materials, or comparable areas such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
2. GS-7 Level: Completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree in engineering with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), defined as a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in major field courses during the final 2 years.
3. GS-9 Level: Completion of 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent, with a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in major field courses during the final 2 years.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include professional knowledge of mechanical engineering policies, theories, and principles.
