MECHANICAL ENGINEER

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will apply professional knowledge of mechanical engineering policies, theories, and principles to solve complex problems. Your responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and testing mechanical systems and components. You will work on projects involving thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and materials science. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. You will also prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations. Additionally, you will participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and efficiency. You will manage multiple tasks and priorities, ensuring timely completion of project milestones. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of engineering best practices.

To qualify, you must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: 1. Degree: Engineering from an accredited program that includes differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in at least five of the following areas: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, electrical fields and circuits, nature and properties of materials, or comparable areas such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. 2. GS-7 Level: Completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree in engineering with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), defined as a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in major field courses during the final 2 years. 3. GS-9 Level: Completion of 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent, with a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in major field courses during the final 2 years.
