Position Summary: We are looking to add a Senior Software Engineer to our team. You’ll work directly with our Director of Engineering and have broad end-to-end responsibilities. We are looking for a strong Senior Software Engineer and you will have opportunities to contribute across the entire stack. Your work will have a tremendous impact on every aspect of Tilled’s business success.
A day in the life as a Senior Software Engineer may include:
Create, develop, deploy, and maintain Tilled services
Design and implement highly reliable, fault tolerant systems
Collect and visualize detailed telemetry data to continuously improve systems
Advance and adhere to high-quality coding practices – unit testing, pair programming
End-to-end responsibility – continuously monitor and improve the services you create
Promote an engineering team culture that is always learning, motivated and collaborative
Work with a variety of technologies – Typescript, Angular, NodeJS, Postgres
Typical Hoursfor this Position: You must be flexible to work between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday.
What You Have:
6+ years building and owning production software systems
Deep experience with TypeScript and Node.js, or a comparable modern backend stack
Strong command of relational databases, particularly Postgres (schema design, indexing, and query performance tuning)
A track record of good judgment under ambiguity in fast-moving, high-growth environments
Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a distributed team, without needing structure imposed on you
A genuine interest in raising the bar for the team around you, not just your own output
What You May Have:
Experience with Angular preferred
Experience in a startup, particularly at a stage where you wore more than one hat
Experience with AWS preferred
Experience building or integrating payment systems (Stripe, Braintree, or similar)
A history of taking production systems and materially improving their performance, quality, or reliability
