Segal McCambridge, a respected national litigation firm, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its national construction defect defense practice. This is a fully remote position supporting a West Coast-based team handling high-value, high-profile construction defect defense matters. Candidates must be generally able to work effectively on a Pacific Time schedule and collaborate closely with attorneys and clients.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with construction defect defense experience to work on sophisticated, high-stakes litigation alongside experienced trial attorneys and a collaborative national team.
What You’ll Do
As a key member of the construction defect defense team, you will assist with complex litigation matters from inception through trial, including:
Drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
Managing and responding to written discovery
Conducting legal research and preparing case assessments
Assisting with expert discovery and construction-related litigation issues
Preparing for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
Assisting with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness preparation, and trial strategy
Managing case deadlines and associated litigation tasks
Working closely with partners, clients, experts, and other members of the litigation team
You will have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility from day one while working alongside attorneys handling significant construction defect matters throughout the West Coast.
What We’re Looking For
Active license to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
2+ years of experience practicing law on the defense side
Prior construction defect defense experience
Experience with civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and litigation strategy
Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a collaborative litigation team
Ability and willingness to work with a team operating primarily on Pacific Time
Proactive, ownership-driven approach and a strong interest in developing as a trial lawyer
Compensation & Career Growth
The anticipated base salary range is $120,000–$185,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
