About the Team The Security Engineering Watermark team is dedicated to building industry-leading watermark algorithms, services, and technologies, and to supporting cross-functional teams in protecting our users, products, and infrastructure.
In today's AI-driven content generation landscape, watermarking has become a critical technology for addressing challenges such as insider risk, content provenance and authenticity, copyright protection, and large‑language model(LLM) safeguarding.
In this team, you'll have a unique opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the company's strategy on key security initiatives — particularly in building invisible watermark algorithms for AI‑generated content(AIGC) and LLM models.
You will also have the chance to experience the full lifecycle of security products and services, and are encouraged to participate in solving real-world problems across TikTok/ByteDance products at scale.
As a project intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in impactful short-term projects that provide you with a glimpse of professional real-world experience.

Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to design and develop new invisible watermark algorithms that effectively balance high robustness, high visual quality, and tamper resistance.
- Explore security solutions in the AIGC era, building industry‑leading capabilities for protecting LLM copyrights and tracing the provenance of AIGC.
- Partner with mentors on rapid exploration sprints: frame hypotheses, design experiments, run evaluations, and iterate quickly from concept to proof-of-concept to early productization on frontier challenges.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including product, platform, and research — to understand real-world requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
