Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including Inpatient – All types of cases, Outpatient Clinical, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Observation.

Required Qualifications:
Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders. Or
National Certified CodingAssociate - American Health Information Management Association or National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree:Medical Record Technology.
Coursework/
Training:Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology.
3 years of Inpatient coding in an acute care setting.
Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
