Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor- Suicide Prevention Case Manager

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) serves as a Suicide Prevention Case Manager, responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services to veterans at risk of suicide. Key responsibilities include: - Conducting thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify suicide risk factors and mental health conditions. - Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized treatment plans that address suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and ongoing therapeutic support. - Providing evidence-based psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other modalities tailored to veteran populations. - Coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, primary care providers, and community partners to ensure integrated treatment. - Managing a caseload of high-risk veterans, conducting regular follow-up appointments, and maintaining detailed clinical documentation in accordance with VA policies. - Facilitating safety planning, crisis response, and postvention services for veterans and their families. - Participating in outreach activities to engage veterans who are not currently receiving care, including community events and collaboration with veteran service organizations. - Providing consultation and training to other VA staff on suicide prevention strategies, risk assessment, and evidence-based interventions. - Utilizing data tracking systems to monitor outcomes, identify trends, and improve program effectiveness. - Adhering to all ethical and legal standards for licensed professional counselors, including confidentiality and mandatory reporting requirements.

Basic Requirements: - United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. - Education: Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). - Licensure: Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, which includes diagnosis and treatment. - English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
