TEAM:The
POPS research unit aims to generate and disseminate knowledge on issues relating to prevention, organisation and patient pathways in primary care.
To this end, we draw on a wide range of methodologies from epidemiology, clinical research, the humanities and social sciences, and participatory research.
This postdoctoral position would be integrated in the deprescribing work group, within the axis 1 of the team.
1- Main Project:
ABC-MG Our team has conducted a pragmatic real-world primary care trial to assess the impact of selective reporting for antibiotic susceptibility test on general practitioners' prescribing of broad-spectrum antibiotics in women with E.coli urinary tract infections.
The trial was prospective, cluster- randomized (= GP practice) and controlled.
The statistical unit was be the E.
coli positive urine culture episode, used as a proxy for a UTI.
GPs were assigned to one of the two arms according to GP practice allocation: intervention arm: "dissemination of a selective reporting for antibiotic susceptibility test" or control arm.
The follow-up period for microbiological data and antibiotic dispensing was 24 months (12 months before the intervention until 12 months after).
The primary outcome was the rate of broad-spectrum antibiotic dispensing: number of urine cultures associated with a prescription of broad-spectrum antibiotics (AMX-AC, FQ, C3G) prescribed by a GP over a period of 3 days before to 5 days after reception of the antibiogram (period D-3 to D+5), divided by the total number of urine cultures.
Antibiotic dispensing will be extracted through the Système National des Données de Santé (SNDS).
All data management and analysis will be performed by Nantes CHU methodologist Aurélie Gaultier on the
SNDS secured platform.
Study data should be available by fall 2026. The postdoctoral researcher would be responsible to coordinate the data management, monitoring and analysis, write the first draft of the report and scientific article, and anticipate ancillary analysis with the support of the methodologist and under the functional responsibility of the principal investigator.
2- Secondary Projects: During the second phase of the postdoctoral period, the postdoctoral researcher would be responsible to prepare the report and scientific article related to a second population-based deprescribing trial (the
DEPRESCRIPP-DAM trial).
Another mission would be to prepare and submit a grant proposal in the field of deprescribing (Spring 2026).
