Apprentice Chef

As an Apprentice Chef in the British Army, you will work as a full-time soldier and entry-level chef, responsible for providing catering services across a wide range of settings. Your primary duties include preparing and serving meals for soldiers, from fine dining and state banquets to humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations. You will be part of a highly respected, specialist team that ensures soldiers receive the energy and morale needed to complete any mission. You will achieve the highest culinary standards in the most challenging environments, adapting to various conditions and locations. Your role involves maintaining food hygiene and safety protocols, managing kitchen operations, and supporting team efforts to deliver quality meals under pressure. You will also gain qualifications up to degree level in food, hygiene, and related fields, developing skills in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management. This position requires flexibility to work in diverse settings, including field kitchens, military bases, and during deployments, ensuring that all catering needs are met efficiently and effectively.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements: be a full-time soldier in the British Army; possess a strong interest in culinary arts and food service; demonstrate ability to work in a team and under pressure; have good communication skills; be willing to undergo training and gain qualifications up to degree level in food, hygiene, and related fields; meet physical fitness standards for military service; and be eligible for security clearance. No prior professional cooking experience is required, as training will be provided.
