Psychologist (Education Debt Repayment and Sign on Bonus)

As a Psychologist, you will provide a full range of psychological assessment services and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions to veterans. Your responsibilities include conducting diagnostic evaluations, developing treatment plans, and providing individual, group, and family therapy. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and participate in treatment planning meetings. Additionally, you will provide crisis intervention services, including suicide risk assessments and management. You will also engage in consultation with other healthcare professionals regarding psychological aspects of patient care. Documentation of clinical activities in electronic health records in a timely and accurate manner is required. You may supervise psychology trainees and contribute to the training mission of the facility. Participation in program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities as assigned is expected. You will adhere to ethical and professional standards as outlined by the American Psychological Association and VA policies.

Qualifications: Must be a United States Citizen. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must hold a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed, with the specialty area consistent with the assignment. Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with successful completion of a re-specialization program in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program, with the retrained specialty consistent with the assignment, is acceptable. A doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution, with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature, is also acceptable. Must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA at the time completed, consistent with the assignment. New VHA psychology internship programs in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable if sanctioned by VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and VHA Office of Academic Affiliations at the time of internship. VHA facilities offering full-time, one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are acceptable. Applicants who completed an internship not accredited by APA or CPA may be eligible if currently board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty consistent with the assignment (must maintain board certification).
