岗位职责

As a Food Service Student Intern at Mitchell Hall Cadet Dining, you will gain hands-on experience in a high-volume food service operation. Your primary responsibilities include assisting with meal preparation, serving food, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining areas. You will learn to operate and maintain food service equipment such as knives, mechanical dishwashers, and powered cleaning equipment. Duties also involve counting tables and trays, determining serving yields, and performing cashier tasks as needed, including making change. You will follow established sequences for tasks, such as stacking dishes carefully to prevent accidents and promptly cleaning up spills to ensure safety. Additionally, you will read and understand time and duty schedules, safety data sheets, menus, recipes, and basic work instructions. The internship requires completing 180 hours over 15 weeks (spring) or 10 weeks (summer), providing practical training in food handling, personal hygiene, and safe work procedures.

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution's culinary program. Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication) for counting items and making change. Ability to learn food service sanitation standards, including contamination prevention and waste control. Ability to concentrate on tasks despite interruptions and distractions. Ability to follow multi-step procedures with normal supervision. Ability to learn and use food service tools and equipment safely. Ability to read and understand simple signs, food names, and instructions. Understanding of basic food handling techniques. Skill in performing routine manual tasks. Understanding of personal hygiene standards and safe work practices.
