岗位职责
As a Volunteer Law Intern with the United States Attorney's Office, you will apply your legal writing and research skills to support the Civil and/or Criminal Division during the 2026 Fall Semester. Your responsibilities will include conducting legal research and analysis on federal statutes, regulations, and case law to assist attorneys in preparing for litigation. You will draft legal memoranda, motions, briefs, and other court documents under the supervision of experienced attorneys. Additionally, you will assist in reviewing and summarizing case files, evidence, and discovery materials. You may also participate in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness materials, and attending court proceedings as needed. In the Civil Division, you will work on cases involving federal programs, torts, civil rights, and other civil litigation matters. In the Criminal Division, you will support prosecutions by researching legal issues, drafting charging documents, and assisting with plea negotiations. You will collaborate with Assistant U.S. Attorneys and other legal professionals to ensure effective case management and timely resolution of matters. This internship provides hands-on experience in federal legal practice, allowing you to develop skills in legal writing, advocacy, and case strategy. You will be expected to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information. The position requires a commitment of 10 hours per week, with a schedule to be arranged in coordination with your supervisor.
