岗位职责
As a College Intern (Non-Law Student Volunteer) with the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, you will support the office's dual role as both the local and federal prosecutor for the nation's capital. Your responsibilities will be tailored to the office's unique breadth of work, which includes handling local cases from misdemeanor drug possession to murders, and federal cases involving child pornography, gangs, financial fraud, and terrorism. You will also assist in civil suits representing the district.
Your primary duties will involve conducting legal research and analysis on a variety of criminal and civil matters. You will draft legal documents, including memoranda, motions, and correspondence, under the supervision of attorneys. You will review case files, evidence, and discovery materials to assist in case preparation. You will also attend court proceedings, meetings, and hearings to observe and support the legal team.
You will be expected to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring that all work product meets the office's standards of fairness and integrity. You will collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to support the administration of justice. You will also manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in federal prosecution and civil litigation. You will develop skills in legal research, writing, and case management. You will also gain insight into the operations of a major U.S. Attorney's Office and the federal justice system.

Applicants must have a strong academic background, excellent research and writing skills, an eye for detail, and a commitment to fairness and integrity supporting the administration of justice. A minimum GPA of 3.0 or a GPA that ranks you in the top half of your class is required. Applicants must be United States Citizens or owe permanent allegiance to the United States. Enrollment must be in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, graduate/professional school, or certificate program equivalent to at least 1 academic year of full-time study.
