Speech Pathologist - Rehabilitation Hospital Physical Therapy Rehab - Full Time

The staff Speech Pathologist is legally and ethically responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing programs for the communicatively handicapped population. This role involves assessing patients' communication and swallowing disorders, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing direct therapy to improve speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing functions. The Speech Pathologist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and physical and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Responsibilities include conducting diagnostic evaluations using standardized and non-standardized tools, documenting patient progress, and adjusting treatment plans as needed. The position also requires educating patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and home exercise programs. The Speech Pathologist maintains consistency with administrative and departmental policies, meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies (Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders), and adheres to professional standards and ethical guidelines. This role is based in a rehabilitation hospital setting, focusing on physical therapy rehab, and involves working with a diverse patient population to maximize functional outcomes and quality of life.

Must hold a valid state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred. A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program is required. Experience in a rehabilitation or hospital setting is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of evidence-based practices in speech-language pathology. Basic life support (BLS) certification may be required.
