Catering Apprentice Level 2

As a Catering Apprentice Level 2, you will work in a busy catering environment, gaining hands-on experience and developing practical skills in food preparation, service, and kitchen operations. Your primary responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of ingredients and meals under the guidance of experienced catering staff, ensuring that all food is prepared to the required standards of quality, hygiene, and safety. You will learn to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, and support the team during service periods to ensure timely and efficient delivery of meals. Additionally, you will help with stock rotation, storage, and inventory management, following established procedures to minimize waste and maintain freshness. You will also assist with serving food to customers, taking orders, and handling basic customer inquiries in a polite and professional manner. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop your knowledge of food safety regulations, allergen management, and health and safety practices, applying these principles in daily tasks. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the catering team, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new challenges. As you progress, you will take on increasing responsibility, such as preparing simple dishes independently and contributing to menu planning discussions. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and evenings, as needed to meet the demands of the catering operation.

No prior experience in catering is required, as full training will be provided. However, you should have a genuine interest in starting a career in the catering industry and a willingness to learn. Basic numeracy and literacy skills are necessary for following recipes, measuring ingredients, and completing training materials. You should be reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions accurately.
