The Staff Psychologist in Primary Care - Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) provides comprehensive psychological services through a broad range of interventions within a mental health setting, including both inpatient and outpatient care. The psychologist works independently at the doctoral level, delivering integrated behavioral health services in primary care clinics. Key responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, providing evidence-based psychotherapy, and offering consultation to primary care providers. The psychologist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address mental health concerns within the primary care context, such as depression, anxiety, substance use, and adjustment disorders. They develop and implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and adjust interventions as needed. Additionally, the psychologist participates in program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and may provide training or supervision to trainees. The role requires effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure coordinated care. The psychologist also maintains accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. They consult with peers and supervisors as appropriate, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment. The position is based at the Millington CBOC and the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, serving a diverse veteran population.

Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). The specialty area must be consistent with the assignment, excluding school psychology. Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Must be a United States citizen; non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
