The Staff Psychologist - PRRC Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive psychological services within the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (PRRC). This role involves direct patient care, program coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support veterans with serious mental illness in their recovery journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, including diagnostic evaluations, cognitive testing, and functional assessments to inform treatment planning.
- Providing evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy, with a focus on recovery-oriented interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy, social skills training, and illness management.
- Coordinating the PRRC program, including scheduling, curriculum development, and ensuring alignment with recovery principles.
- Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team (psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, peer specialists) to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Leading psychoeducational groups on topics such as symptom management, medication adherence, and community reintegration.
- Providing crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed.
- Participating in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Supervising psychology trainees, including interns and practicum students, as assigned.
- Documenting clinical services in accordance with VA policies and professional standards.
- Engaging in outreach and consultation with community partners to support veterans' transition to community living.

Qualifications and requirements:
- United States citizenship required; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time of program completion. The specialty area must be consistent with the assignment.
- OR a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of a re-specialization program (including an approved internship) in an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral program, with retraining consistent with the assignment.
- OR a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.
- Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA at the time of completion, consistent with the assignment.
- OR completion of a full-time, one-year pre-doctoral internship at a VHA facility prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979).
- OR completion of an internship that was not accredited but meets other VA requirements.
- Degree in school psychology is not eligible for VHA assignments.
