The Staff Psychologist in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) provides comprehensive psychological services to veterans within a multidisciplinary team setting. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The psychologist delivers individual and group psychotherapy using modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused interventions. They collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure integrated treatment approaches. The role involves crisis intervention, risk assessment, and management of acute psychiatric symptoms. The psychologist maintains accurate clinical documentation in electronic health records, adhering to VA policies and regulatory standards. They participate in team meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning sessions to optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, the psychologist may provide consultation to other clinical staff, supervise psychology trainees or interns, and contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives. The position requires active engagement in evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and adherence to ethical guidelines. The psychologist also supports patient education, relapse prevention, and community reintegration efforts. They may be involved in outreach activities to engage veterans in care and reduce barriers to treatment. The role demands flexibility to address diverse clinical presentations, including comorbid medical conditions, substance use disorders, and psychosocial stressors. The psychologist works within a recovery-oriented framework, promoting patient autonomy and resilience. They contribute to a positive team culture, fostering collaboration and mutual support among colleagues. The position may involve occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate patient needs.

Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program. Completion of an APA-accredited internship. Licensure as a psychologist in any state or territory of the United States. Experience in evidence-based psychotherapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused interventions. Proficiency in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience with crisis intervention and risk assessment. Supervisory experience with psychology trainees or interns preferred. Knowledge of VA policies and regulatory standards is desirable. Commitment to continuous professional development and ethical practice.
