Staff Psychologist - Recruitment/Relocation - EDRP Approved

The Staff Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services within a VA healthcare setting. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions for a diverse patient population. The psychologist will develop and implement treatment plans, provide crisis intervention, and conduct risk assessments as needed. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential to coordinate patient care and ensure integrated treatment approaches. The role involves maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with VA policies and professional standards. Additionally, the psychologist may participate in program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical supervision of trainees or other staff. The position requires adherence to ethical guidelines and VA regulations, with a focus on delivering patient-centered care that addresses mental health needs across the lifespan.

Qualifications include United States citizenship and proficiency in spoken and written English. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time of program completion. Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of a re-specialization program in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program is acceptable, provided the specialty aligns with the assignment. A doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature also qualifies. Additionally, candidates must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA at the time of completion, consistent with the assignment. New VHA psychology internship programs in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable if sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Office of Academic Affiliations. VHA facilities offering full-time, one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are also acceptable. Applicants who completed a non-accredited internship may be eligible if currently board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty area consistent with the assignment.
