Staff Psychologist - Recruitment/Relocation - EDRP Approved - BHIP

The Staff Psychologist serves as a member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team, providing comprehensive mental health services to veterans. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The psychologist will provide individual and group psychotherapy using modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused therapies. They will collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services. The role involves crisis intervention, risk assessment, and management of acute psychiatric symptoms. The psychologist will maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record system, adhering to VA and professional standards. They will participate in program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical supervision of psychology trainees as assigned. The position requires active engagement in team meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning sessions. The psychologist will also provide consultation to other healthcare providers on psychological aspects of patient care and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and best practices within the BHIP team.

Must be a United States citizen. Non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Must possess a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed. Must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed. Must meet specific individual eligibility requirements for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) in accordance with VHA policy.
