Staff Psychologist Behavioral Health / SCI - EDRP Approved, Recruitment/Relocation Incentive

The Staff Psychologist serves on the multidisciplinary Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Unit within the Behavioral Health Team of Mental Health Service. The role involves direct patient care services and program development activities. Responsibilities include providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients with spinal cord injuries and related behavioral health conditions. The psychologist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, conduct individual and group psychotherapy, and provide crisis intervention as needed. Program development duties involve designing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral health programs tailored to the SCI population. The psychologist also participates in clinical supervision, training of psychology trainees, and quality improvement initiatives. Documentation of clinical activities in accordance with VA policies and standards is required. The position contributes to the overall mission of improving the mental health and quality of life for veterans with spinal cord injuries.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Must possess a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program at the time of completion, or a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of an APA or CPA accredited re-specialization program in a specialty consistent with the assignment, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature. Must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA at the time of completion, or a new VHA psychology internship program sanctioned by VHA Central Office, or a full-time one-year pre-doctoral internship at a VHA facility prior to 1979, or current board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty consistent with the assignment.
