Staff Psychologist - Primary Care Mental Health Integration

The Staff Psychologist in Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services within a primary care setting. Key responsibilities include conducting brief, evidence-based assessments and interventions for patients with mental health and behavioral health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, substance use, and chronic disease management. The psychologist collaborates closely with primary care providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate mental health care into routine medical visits, ensuring a holistic approach to patient wellness. Duties involve performing diagnostic evaluations, developing treatment plans, and delivering short-term therapy (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing) tailored to primary care populations. The psychologist also engages in consultation and education for primary care staff, offering guidance on behavioral health issues and promoting mental health awareness. Additionally, the role includes documenting clinical encounters in electronic health records, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to program development to enhance the integration of mental health services. The psychologist may provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed, and will maintain compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. This position requires active collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to address the full spectrum of patient needs, from prevention to acute care, within a fast-paced primary care environment.

Qualifications include United States citizenship and proficiency in spoken and written English. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time of program completion. Additionally, applicants must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time of the program's completion, and that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. Grade-specific requirements will be determined based on the job announcement and may include additional experience or licensure.
