Clinical Psychologist - BHIP Outpatient (Open Continuous Announcement)

The Clinical Psychologist in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Outpatient setting provides comprehensive psychological services to veterans. Responsibilities include conducting diagnostic assessments, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, and providing individual and group psychotherapy. The psychologist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, ensuring integrated treatment for complex mental health conditions. Duties also involve crisis intervention, risk assessment, and management of acute psychological distress. The psychologist participates in treatment planning meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Additionally, the role includes providing consultation to other healthcare providers on psychological issues, conducting psychological testing and evaluation when indicated, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation in accordance with VA policies. The psychologist may also engage in program development, research activities, and supervision of psychology trainees as assigned. The position requires adherence to ethical standards and VA regulations, with a focus on patient-centered care and recovery-oriented practices.

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship; English Language Proficiency; Education: Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program at the time of completion. The specialty area must be consistent with the assignment (clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or clinical neuropsychology). A degree in school psychology is not eligible. Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of a re-specialization program (including an approved internship) in an APA or CPA accredited program with the specialty consistent with the assignment. Additional requirements: Must meet specific eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) per VHA policy if applying for that benefit.
