Staff Psychologist- -Recruitment/Relocation - EDRP Approved

The Staff Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services within a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The psychologist delivers individual and group psychotherapy using modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other empirically supported interventions. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, participate in treatment planning meetings, and provide consultation to other healthcare professionals. The psychologist maintains accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. They may supervise psychology trainees, including interns and practicum students, providing clinical guidance and feedback. Additionally, the psychologist engages in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery. They stay current with professional developments through continuing education and may contribute to research activities within the department. The role requires adherence to ethical guidelines and legal requirements governing psychological practice.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program, with the specialty area consistent with the assignment. Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of an APA or CPA accredited re-specialization program in the relevant specialty, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a primarily psychological dissertation. Candidates must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited. United States citizenship is required, and non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory. Additional requirements include eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), with individual eligibility determined per VHA policy and application submission within four months of appointment.
