Psychologist (Supportive Recovery Services)

The Psychologist in Supportive Recovery Services provides comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. Key responsibilities include conducting evidence-based individual and group therapy, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery. The psychologist will perform psychological evaluations, including cognitive and personality assessments, to inform treatment decisions. They will also provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed, and participate in treatment team meetings to coordinate care. Additionally, the psychologist will engage in program development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery. They will maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. The role involves supervising psychology trainees and contributing to the training mission of the department. The psychologist will also provide consultation to other healthcare providers on psychological aspects of patient care. They will stay current with best practices in addiction psychology and recovery-oriented care. The position requires active participation in research or scholarly activities to advance the field of supportive recovery services. The psychologist will foster a therapeutic environment that promotes patient engagement and long-term recovery. They will also assist in developing psychoeducational materials and community outreach programs. The role demands flexibility to adapt to evolving patient needs and program requirements.

Must be a United States citizen. Non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. Must hold a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time of program completion. The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment. Must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA at the time of program completion, consistent with the assignment. Must meet individual eligibility requirements for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) if applying for that benefit.
