Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (General Radiologic Technology)

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (General Radiologic Technology) performs radiographic procedures and examinations in a hospital or clinic setting under the direction of radiologists and other medical officers. The primary objective is to produce high-quality radiographic studies used in medical diagnosis to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions. Responsibilities include preparing and administering contrast media and medications in accordance with applicable regulations and protocols. The technologist must be proficient in computerized and digital radiography (CR/DR) as well as picture archiving and communications systems (PACS). This role involves operating imaging equipment, positioning patients, ensuring radiation safety, and maintaining accurate patient records. The technologist collaborates with the healthcare team to optimize image quality and patient care, adhering to established standards and procedures.

All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE). DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English. Knowledge of computerized and digital radiography (CR/DR) and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) is required.
