Senior Social Worker (BHIP)

The Senior Social Worker (BHIP) is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical social work services within the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). Key responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing evidence-based psychotherapy to individuals, groups, and families. The role involves collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, including consultation with medical staff, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals. The Senior Social Worker will manage a caseload of complex cases, often involving co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and will provide crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed. Additionally, the position requires maintaining accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards, participating in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, and providing clinical supervision to junior social workers or trainees. The Senior Social Worker may also engage in community outreach, advocacy, and education to support patient access to resources and continuity of care. This role demands advanced clinical judgment and the ability to function independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

For GS-12 Senior Social Worker grade determination: at least two years of post-advanced practice clinical licensure experience, with one year equivalent to GS-11, demonstrating advanced practice skills and expertise in a specialized area. Senior social workers must hold advanced practice level licensure or certification.
