The Child Development Program Assistant (Multilevel) is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Child Development Center at Fort Dix, New Jersey. This role involves working directly with children in a structured, safe, and nurturing environment to promote their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Key responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum, supervising children during indoor and outdoor play, meals, and rest periods, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards. The assistant will assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials for lessons, and observing children's progress to report any concerns to lead staff. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's daily experiences and needs. Depending on the assigned level (Entry, Intermediate, or Target), the assistant may take on greater responsibilities such as leading small group activities, mentoring lower-level staff, or coordinating special events. The position operates within a team environment, collaborating with other program assistants and supervisors to ensure a high-quality child care program that meets the needs of military families. All levels require adherence to Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs policies and procedures, including maintaining required certifications and completing ongoing training as directed.

ALL LEVELS: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent (diploma or equivalent required for verification). For the TARGET LEVEL: 18 months of experience working in any childcare or youth program, plus completion of DoD approved competency-training courses (entry and intermediate level training must be completed and evident by Service-issued documentation). Alternatively, 18 months of experience plus possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the assigned age group: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age Credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Or, 18 months of experience plus an associate degree with at least 24 credit hours in a major course of study directly related to the age group (e.g., early childhood education, child development, youth development) from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university. Or, possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the assigned age group: CDA credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Or, a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with 24 credit hours in a major course of study directly related to early childhood education, child development, or youth development from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. All qualifying experience must be clearly described in the resume.
