CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Multilevel) - LAKEHURST

The Child Development Program Assistant supports the operation of the Child Development Center at Lakehurst, New Jersey. Responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and maintaining positive interactions with children and families. The role involves supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities, assisting with meal and snack times, and helping with daily routines such as diapering, toileting, and napping. The assistant will also participate in curriculum planning and implementation, observe and document children's progress, and communicate with parents about their child's day. Additional duties may include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the classroom, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supporting the overall mission of the Child Development Center. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, as needed to meet program needs.

All levels: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with proof of diploma or equivalent required. For the Target Level: 18 months of experience working in any childcare or youth program, plus completion of DoD-approved competency-training courses. Additionally, entry and intermediate level training must be completed and evident by Service-issued documentation. Alternatively, 18 months of experience working in a childcare or youth program, plus possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the age group of the position: child development associate credential, military school age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Or, 18 months of experience working in a childcare or youth program, plus an associate degree with a major course of study (24 credit hours) directly related to the age group, from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university. Or, possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the age group: child development associate credential, military school age credential, Army youth practicum, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Or, a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study (24 credit hours) from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university with content directly related to early childhood education, child development, or youth development.

Operates child development centers providing childcare services at a U.S. Air Force base.
