The Youth Center Program Assistant supports the operation of School Age Centers and Teen Centers, ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for youth. Responsibilities include planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. The assistant supervises children and youth during structured and unstructured activities, including indoor and outdoor play, homework assistance, arts and crafts, sports, and special events. They maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment, adhering to safety and health regulations. The role involves interacting positively with youth, modeling appropriate behavior, and fostering inclusive participation. The assistant communicates with parents and guardians regarding program activities and child progress, and collaborates with team members to coordinate daily schedules and special projects. They may assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, supply inventory, and program documentation. The position requires flexibility to adapt to varying age groups and program needs across multiple locations.

ALL LEVELS: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with proof of diploma or equivalent. For the Target Level: 18 months of experience working in any childcare or youth program, plus completion of DoD approved competency-training courses. Additionally, entry and intermediate level training must be completed and evident by Service-issued documentation. Alternatively, 18 months of experience plus possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the age group: child development associate credential, military school age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Or 18 months of experience plus an associate degree with a major course of study (24 credit hours) in early childhood education, child development, youth development, or related field from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university. Or possession and maintenance of a child development associate credential, military school age credential, Army youth practicum, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Or a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study (24 credit hours) in early childhood education, child development, youth development, or related field from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.
