CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (ENTRY - TARGET LEVEL)

As a Child and Youth Program Assistant, you will support the development and care of children and youth in a structured program environment. Your primary responsibilities include: Program Implementation: Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting developmentally appropriate activities for children and youth, including educational, recreational, and social programs. Ensure activities align with program goals and safety standards. Supervision and Safety: Supervise children and youth during all activities, ensuring a safe and secure environment. Monitor behavior, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies as needed. Maintain ratios and accountability of participants at all times. Child Development Support: Foster positive relationships with children and youth, promoting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Provide guidance and encouragement, and adapt activities to meet individual needs. Program Administration: Assist with daily operations, including setting up and cleaning activity areas, maintaining supplies and equipment, and documenting attendance and incidents. Support parent communication and program evaluation. Collaboration: Work as part of a team with other program staff, volunteers, and leadership to ensure cohesive program delivery. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. Compliance: Adhere to Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force child and youth program policies, regulations, and standards. Maintain required certifications and training.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements: - **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent (proof required). - **Experience**: For Target Level: At least 18 months of experience working in a childcare or youth program. Experience may include paid or unpaid work, including volunteer roles. - **Credentials**: Possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the assigned age group: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. OR an associate degree with 24 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, or elementary education. OR a bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours with 24 credit hours in the same fields. - **Training**: Completion of DoD-approved competency-training courses; entry and intermediate level training must be completed and evident by Service-issued documentation. - **Other**: Ability to provide proof of education (diploma or transcripts) and meet all eligibility requirements.
